The series by Cynthia Matthews was selected by John Andrulis, Gallery Owner and Art Collector, JAG Fine Art and Forrest Old, BWGallerist and Gallery Owner, Red Filter Gallery, BWGallerist, during portfolios reviews organized by The New York Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP NY) on February 18th, 2015, in New York.
Cynthia Matthews began her career in the late 1970’s photographing for corporations and national magazines. By the mid 1980’s she was photographing extensively for Town & Country magazine, producing feature articles evoking the mood and life styles of the sporting world. During these years working in the editorial and corporate arenas, she has never abandoned her love for classical black & white photography and continues to do her personal work in this medium with film and making her silver prints the old fashioned way – in the “wet darkroom. For the past thirty years she has photographed Manhattan in the snow; a portfolio of these snowscapes have been exhibited in group and solo shows. Of course her personal work is not limited to black & white. Her eye works just as well in color.
