With a degree from the Gobelins Visual Arts School, Christophe Dugied works regularly for lifestyle magazines. He began working on a personal project about 15 years ago, focusing on night walks in unusual locations: ports, industrial sites, no man’s lands… revealing them in their nocturnal settings. From real to banal emerged a fictional reality. More recently, he changed themes with Les Terrasses The exterior transforming into a closed setting. Perhaps that of his childhood, a castle full of memories and stories. As this home was a reminder of the vacations he spent with his grand parents, he visited regularly. His visits resembled that of rediscovering an old out of touch acquaintance. He had to be as faithful to the castle as to his memories, first wandering through the halls, entering the rooms, opening the closets. Which is what he chooses to capture: sheets, vases, dishes… still lifes in their natural environment.
Christophe Dugied is a photographer of contemplation. With his view camera, he captures his subjects’ finest details.
His works are now in private collections in France, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. He has been featured in several group exhibitions (Photo Off 2011 with the Galerie Photo12, Espace Jörg Brockmann (Geneva), Ilan Engel Gallery (Paris), Galerie Ventilo, 19th rencontres de photographie Regards, Villeneuve de la Rivière (Perpignan)…)
