“Three Springs and Two Autumns” – The Gers
Photographic work in the Gers department between 2019 and 2022.
This photographic series began in 2019 at the same time as the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic. It is a snapshot, a totally subjective vision of a territory through landscapes, villages and chance encounters, chosen with no other criteria than chance and the routes taken on the roads of the Gers over three years.
The aim of this work is not to present a region through the traditional themes of architecture or history that have shaped it, but to let opportunities present themselves spontaneously in a poetic rather than documentary form, as ephemeral and perhaps revealing moments of a certain way of life in a period of change that seems to be accelerating.
This pictorial narrative addresses the notion of temporality, but also, at a time of migration from the city to rural areas and the new opportunities offered, perhaps hints at the beginnings of a decisive upheaval for generations to come, initiated by the new parameters imposed by the sudden appearance of a pandemic that has reshuffled the cards.
