Ute Behrend exhibits in Braunschweig and at the Copenhagen festival, her work is entitled Back to nature and she comments it as follows:
Within an artistic approach to the topic of nature, I have transferred ordinary everyday objects, which are imitations of plants, stones and animals, to places where one would expect their real pendants. As a symbol for “that which remains” when everything else has been destroyed. Or also to increase the little nature there is left. As temporary sculptures I photographed them within their “natural environment”. In the pictures they have the appearance of “androids” that develop a self confidence of their own. They want to return to the place of their origin.
Not knowing that they are simulacras, they raise the very same questions that preoccupy all of us: Where do I come from? Where should I go? How much time do I still have?
