His name: Daniel Denise. Until March 30, 2025, he is exhibiting 180 portraits of patients and caregivers from the neuro-oncology unit of the Nancy CHRU on the hospital premises. He thus presents his exhibition.
This project, developed over two years, initially paid tribute to all the caregivers working in this unit. Then gradually a broader perspective opening up to other specialists whose essential satellite activities contribute to the quality of care.
Then, we invited patients to join this human fresco, and also loved ones coming to support them.
Everyone posed in everyday clothes, without distinctive signs, erasing thus the boundary between caregivers and those receiving care.
All we will know about them is that each has an essential role whatever their function, their level of studies, their supposed social rank, without stigmatizing those in poorer health conditions.
Being aware of this already means making the world a better place.
The principle is not to find Charlie, but to put people behind this very technical title of Unit 4B, and also to put everyone on the same equal footing.
There could be frustration in not knowing who is doing what, but this is also in order to protect sick patients from being looked at differently from what they are at the time of the photo.
With the support of the CHRU of Nancy, the League against Cancer of Moselle, the ID+ Lorraine Foundation and the “More cerebral than us Tumor” patients’ association.
