Lothar Schirmer: has been one of the legendary publishers in the world of photography over the last 50 years.
He was also a collector. Before putting his collection up for sale, a sale which begins today at Christie’s, he made the book Glamour Collection, Lothar Schirmer.
At the dawn of the 50th anniversary of his publishing house (in April 2024) and as his 80th birthday approaches, Lothar Schirmer realizes that his collection, the one which illustrates the spirit of the times of his youth, is today now completed.
Assembled with passion over the last fifty years, its common thread is glamor, which the author divides into three genres: celebrity portraits, erotic nudes and fashion advertising, to which are added photographic performances and “Film stills” which became famous with the works of Cindy Sherman.
