This is the most touching portfolio received this week. It’s signed Christian Cazenave.
He presents it as follows:
The Empty House
On February 4th, 2025, my parents, aged 94 and 98, left the place where they’ve lived for over half a century to enter a retirement home. Two weeks later, I returned to the family home in their absence. Without them, it’s not quite the house I knew and lived in. Traces of their 71 years together remain: picture frames taken down from the walls, linen on the bed, books in piles, crockery from the sideboard…
This house, with no particular qualities, sheltered a family like others in the same street, then, with the children gone, a discreet life for two. A life lived, whatever it may be, is no small thing. To meet the most pressing needs and save what can be saved, here’s a brief evocation of the time and place, in Villenave d’Ornon, Gironde.
