Placing Plants
I am obsessed with those ornamenal plants that I have found in public and private places. It is because of Human’s needs that thes plants are pulled out of the nature that they orininally grow in, potted and (dis) placed to a human’s environment as a decoration. In fact, both animals and plants are natural creatures. Coming from the same origin, human beings, the most intelligent animal, by nature, have an intimate and dependant connection with plants.
Most of the time, they seem to be distant, people enjoy the convinience that plants bring about,at the same time, they turn a blind eye and even are indifferent to them. The invention of artificial plants is the most telling example of people desire for either visual or psychological comfort, but only with the least cost and efforts.
Through this set of photographs, my attempt is to explore the conditions of decorative plants, and their intimate but alienated relationship with human beings. “
