This series is a work-in-progress in which I explore the profound desire to flee felt by young people of my generation. I question their need to disengage with reality by taking substances that release them from their anxieties and creates the illusion of a connection with others, even though the feeling of solitude is what prevails. I’m still not entirely sure why, because this is not something I do myself. I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs. At these parties, I take photographs, spurred on by the feeling that I’m not with the ‘real version’ of the people I meet. I seek signs of reassurance – tender gestures, beauty – but also attempt to reveal these solitary figures who mirror something in me.
