The core truth and nature of our identity can be objectively represented by the various ‘selves’ we choose to proclaim, whether consciously or not. The images in this series seek to transform these common portraits into that fully realized vision. The collection includes 52 silver gelatin selenium-toned lith prints. These graphic prints are of extraordinary technical quality and printed by world-renowned printmaker Bob Carnie. Manipulating the photographs with the Sabatier effect results in an image that is part negative and part positive. Mackie lines have been fully accentuated to further illuminate each subject’s identity.
The Ipseity collection is the first solarized digital output to become realized, and represents a landmark for the medium. Historical traditions of printing have been fused with Lambda technology for a truly unique result.
The next exhibition of this work will be shown at PhotoLA in the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA from Jan 31st – Feb 3rd, with an opening gala reception on January 31st between 6 and 9pm. The artist will be in attendance. Complete details found below.
