Alter Ego
Nudity is the ultimate form of self-expression. It is precisely this form of expression and the struggle one has with their identity which Bert Van Pelt showcases in his poetic photography of young men. His latest project, Alter Ego, evokes this part of our personality that sometimes has difficulty to emerge.
Engaged in a conceptual artistic process, he has been able to renew the genre of the male nude and give it a place in contemporary photography. His visual research leads him to place the male body in a committed and aesthetic context. The colours added in post-production and the use of the negative image, not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of Bert Van Pelt’s photography, but also captures and heightens the emotional state of the subjects.
Alter Ego will be presented at the Off festival in Arles-France in L’atelier, rue Barremes 13, from 4 to 10 July.
