Bernard Pulcini‘s photographs draw attention to the subjects he photographed. We are in the still controversial field of nude body photography. His duos of models can seem unusual, even provocative. This approach to the reading of the works presented is very reductive and only concerns readers who consider that the subjects are the essence of the works (especially if they are photographic).
This is not the case and this brilliant series by Bernard Pulcini is proof of that. The magic of his images is found in his compositions balanced by the meaning of the message, in the luminous shades that bring a tender softness to the powerful body contrasts (masculine power against feminine suppleness, the density of black skin balanced by the reflection of the skin of alabaster).
Each photograph exudes a soothing harmony through its design, its framing, its lighting, surprisingly from strong contrasts perfectly mastered technically.
The aesthetic climax dominates the subjects without ever harming the reader’s reflection and the poetic atmosphere of the images. Which goes to show that, nude photography can be as different as those of lascivious women and hyper-muscled Apollos.
Thanks to the European Festival of Nude Photography for these openings which maintain this theme in the universe of creative expressions.
