“Rencontres” is the title of my first (small) book published in 1976 by Contrejour.
40 years later, I chose to give the same title to this retrospective exhibition at the gallery of the château d’eau in Toulouse.
A small retrospective of 90 photographs. Some old some recent series.
A series “70s”, an unreleased series “Egypt 1985”, a large “African” series from the 90s, since at that time Africa occupied me practically full time … and a “Japanese” series since japan was also a great passion …
The basement of the water tower will be occupied by more recent work, mainly images of Iceland where I have been going to for years, and a large series very representative of the 4 chapters of my last book: natura published last December by Filigranes editions .
A set of chosen images, images which do not describe objects or events, but which would only like to reveal tiny fragments of time.
With the wish that it would be enough to stop time, as photography does, to see beyond appearances.
