In ancient Greek, Ark refers to the etymology of words such as chest, citadel … It expresses a limit, a tension between the inside and the outside, opposing forces, what contains and what resists.
In this series, the dancers formulate an experiment of imbalance and gravity in interaction with spaces constructed of raw shapes. The body is drawn in space and to make exist the voids. The proposed action raises tensions between ground anchoring and the weight of architecture. Silhouettes stranded, postures stopped, the dance comes sometimes as a struggle, sometimes as a resignation
on backgrounds with monumental lines. Through its presence within the constructed form, the dancer invites us to question the possibility of emptiness, the distances, the tension existing in the spaces of transitions, territories of flux in which the body of the living moves in an automated way.
The buildings are rough, heavy, rough. The lines are geometric and angular. On the other hand the body is light, Organic and vulnerable. Through a work of movement in response to the structure of space, by physical writing of the distances between the living body / soft body and the constructed / rigid matter, the body is then in a fragile situation.
