They do not care why their city is destroyed, they only wish the truce would last a while longer so the fun would not be over soon. rnBeirut was not destroyed in 2008, but it was empty. I would wait impatiently for the rounds of violence to end, to go out and reclaim some of my life. But that didn't happen in 2008. During that mini-war, my friends took to the frontlines again, fighting other Lebanese. This time, the war stole my friends, they became combatants. It was not fun.u201drn
40 years have passed since the Lebanese war erupted on April 13th. Its “Echoes” are still resonating today. They are the voices of families of missing persons, the disabled and weapon wounded persons and dispersed families.
40 years. 40 photographs. 40 poignant stories from victims, photographers and aid workers. “Echoes,” an audio-visual exhibition organized by the Lebanese Red Cross together with the International Committee of the Red Cross, commemorates 40 years since the Lebanese war and 40 years of continued humanitarian action. The exhibition, which opened its doors on April 16 , ending April 26, it was display 40 photos from the Red Cross archives and 6 Lebanese war photographers.
