Preview

Baxter St announces Artists In Focus Fund, a print sale and relief initiative that, like the name suggests, puts artists first. Launching December 2nd, novices and connoisseurs alike will be able to purchase photographs from Baxter St’s incredible cadre of lens-based artists for $150 each. Featured artists include Gillian Laub, Jose Parla, Allen Frame, Pacifico Silano, Justine Kurland, Shikeith, Hannah Whitaker, Clifford Prince King, Eileen Quinian, Adama Delphine Fawundu, Joiri Minaya, Matthew Leifheit, Pixy Liao, Jon Henry, and Kevin Claiborne, among 75+ established and rising stars. All works will be available for purchase at artistsinfocusfund.org through December 26. Proceeds will go directly towards the fund, supporting Baxter St artists and providing grants for the next generation of creators.

Created as a call-to-action to mitigate some of the pandemic’s impact, The Artists In Focus Fund will generate immediate funds for Baxter St artists who have an urgent need for direct and additional support. The fund’s launch comes on the heels of the 10th anniversary of Baxter St’s prestigious artist-in-residence program. The curated selection of prints will highlight a decade of past residents, including Tommy Kha, Zalika Azim, Ivan Forde, Jasmine Murrell, Patricia Voulgaris, and Rachelle Mozma Solano, who Baxter St championed from the beginning of their careers.

Providing support to artists at pivotal junctures in their practice has been the cornerstone of Baxter St’s mission throughout its 136-year history. The Artists in Focus Fund is an example of its mission in action. It gives agency to the Baxter St community to empower artists with a unique lens of the world during this critical time and pay it forward to future creators in an equitable way.

All works will be printed by Griffin Editions, who will donate a portion of the optional custom framing fee back to the fund.
