The autumn 2010 auction organized by the department of photography of the auction house Soler y Llach in Barcelona will offer two sessions of auctions on Wednesday, December 15. The first of the two, beginning at 6.00 pm is of contemporary images, 86 in all, covering genre such as landscape, portraiture and documentary photography, covering the second half of the last century. Artists such as Humberto Rivas, Joan Fontcuberta, Andres Serrano, Nan Goldin, Nicholas Nixon, to mention only a few, are among the images being offered. Also included are various images of Che Guevara.This session includes works showing various trends and artists which were decisive in the medium during this period. Estimates are between 1,000€ and 40,000€. The second session, as of 7.00 pm, includes photographs and publications in the 384 lots offered among which is a daguerreotype dated 1845 which is the first photographic representation of a flamenco dancer or, for that matter, the first of any representation of Spanish dance. It’s estimate is 60,000-80,000€. Included is imagery from the Spanish Civil War as well as examples of pictorialism done in Spain and photomontage, by Centelles, Santos Yubero, Ortiz Echagüe and Català Pic, respectively.
