On November 14th 2016, the auction house Cornette de Saint Cyr will hold a sale devoted to photography focussing on nature and titled, “The Grandeur of Nature”. For the first time a sale will be entirely dedicated to the work of nature photographers.
Although glorified with a specific ambience, naturalistically showing an animal photographed in the wild or disturbed by the traces of man, nature is our primary landscape, our predominant view. At a time where all discussion is about ecological concerns, this sale offers the opportunity to participate in this debate in a more positive way by bringing out the fragile beauty of our planet, of our environment, and the contemplation of these wonders makes us all the more determined to preserve them.
All of the great international artists who have explored this subject will be reunited for this sale, from Peter Beard to Yann Arthus Bertrand by way of Ansel Adams, Lucien Clergue, Joe Bunni, Michel Zoghzoghi, Michael Kenna, Sebastião Ribeiro Salgado, Thierry des Ouches, Francesca Piqueras, Vincent Munier, Nick Brandt etc. The sale will show more than 150 prints estimated at between 1,000€ and 30,000€.
