Arnaud Pyvka uses his camera to frame reality and transform it, enjoying surreal visual collisions, happy accidents, his images bounce off each other. From portraiture to reportage and fashion « on the rocks with a twist, s’il vous plait! » his photography is invigorating, teetering precariously on the brink of the cutting edge. Somewhat addicted to image-making, Pyvka carries a Leica with him at all times, shooting a visual diary to record his life, and travels for posterity.
Arnaud Pyvka was born in Poitiers, France and now lives and works in Paris. He studied modern history at the Poitiers University where he founded the Henri Langlois International Conference for the International Film School Festival. After completing his education Arnaud moved to Paris where he began his multi-faceted career in photography, film and art direction. During this time Arnaud assisted several acclaimed masters in each discipline and worked for various high-end fashion magazines and luxury brands such as Hermes. In 2000 Arnaud helped create Double magazine and served as its creative director and four years later became the editor in chief. Pyvka now devotes all of his time to photography and video and brings to both a keen and rounded sensibility that includes a uniquely historic and multi-media perspective.
“The freedom of combining these mediums helps to jolt my memory, interpret time and everyday life in order to rebuild them, isolate them and play with them.”
Exhibits include La Fiac, Art Bassels Miami, Frieze, Paris Photo, Parcours Saint Germain and Dysfashionnal among other group gallery shows. Arnaud has also had three solo shows in La B.A.N.K Galerie in Paris. His advertising campaigns include those for Bonpoint, Berdgorf Goodman, Céline, Comptoir des Cotonniers, Diane Von Furstenberg, Eurostar, Eider, Forte-Forte, Joe’s Jean, Levi’s, Nestlé, Petit Bateau, Play Station, Sthill, Samsung and SNCF. Arnaud served as Artistic Director for brands such as Toyota, Giorgio Armani perfumes, Samsung, Levi’s, Martin Margiela runway shows along with numerous art exhibitions. Pyvka happily remains an innovative and exhilarated publisher of Double Magazine.
