From July 3rd to 8th, Leica becomes the preferred partner of the Voies Off festival in Arles. Leica is partnering with the festival to discover and support young emerging talents of tomorrow. As part of this partnership, Leica and Voies Off are organizing the Leica Oskar Barnack Award 2017 in the Archdiocese courtyard at 10:00 pm from Monday, July 3 to Friday, July 7.
The twelve finalists of the Prize have been nominated. These include Terje Abusdal, Norway (Slash & Burn), Clara Chichin, Yoann Cimier (Nomad’s Land), Aleksey Kondratyev (Ice Fishers), Sergey Melnichenko (Behind the Scenes), Gideon Mendel (Drowning the World), Dominic Nahr (Fallout), Ekaterina Sevrouk (Fremd bin ich eingezogen), Viktoria Sorochinski (Lands of No-Return), Emilien Urbano (War of a Forgotten Nation) Patrick Willocq (You can not pick a stone with one finger). The winner will receive an allocation of 25,000 euros and equipment worth 10,000 euros.
In addition, Leica Camera France and Leica Camera Italy will be part of the Experts of Portfolio Readings of the Festival Voies Off. They will select a winner each from the photographers met during the Portfolio Readings. These two winners will receive 1 exhibition at the Leica Gallery in Paris and 1 exhibition at the Leica Gallery in Milan, respectively.
Finally Leica installs a Leica Room at the National School of Photography (ENSP) to equip photography students. Leica products will be open to all photographers during the opening week of the festival.
