Africa and its photographers were in the spotlight for this year 2021 of the Rencontres d’Arles, both in the In and in the Off and in all the other variations encountered during this event.
Among all the exhibitions that revolved around this great continent, I selected “Objectif Afrique” presented by the Parisian Art-Z Gallery which has set up shop for the occasion in Arles in two adjoining premises (between the headquarters of the Meetings and the place du Forum). Olivier Sultan, the director, is a connoisseur of African photography of the last fifty years.
His connections and his representations of contemporary creators have allowed him to show us a beautiful set of remarkable works of all this generation which has followed in the footsteps of Malick Sidibé and Seydou Keïta.
No public relation effects not indulging in one-upmanship, the gallery presented ten photographers of African creativity of undeniable value.
