Arles 2020 day to day by Thierry Maindrault
“Galerie Huit” is a must-see for photography enthusiasts who stroll through Arles in this summer. This gallery is located in the apartments of Julia de Bierre who hangs, inside her mansion, the winners of the “Open Wall Arles 2020” without the actual disturbances of sanitary problems could exclude herself from her way.
In all distinguished series of this year, the one concerning our growth named Gregg Segal as the winner for his work named “Daily Bread”. These portraits of children surrounded by their personal and weekly eating wonts cannot leave us indifferent. While overconsumption and “junk food” globalised are taking hold all over the world, the photographer deliberately induces us through a very didactic composition; but, with the saturated colours of the advertising calls. The earth location of the great number of observations (58 photographs) does not matter, because the reading and graphic evocation of food situations are constant.
Gregg Segal is an American professional photographer, graduate of the California Institute of the Arts.
