Between 1974 and 1994, when the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles were in their teens, Pierre-Jean Amar mixed with and photographed the greatest photographers in the world. Discussions, workshops, evenings at the Théâtre Antique, receptions, openings… the world of photography (small then) met, discussed, fell in love, made-up, innovated… In its two hundred and twenty-four black and white images, we experience again all of the atmosphere of those great years, when the Rencontres d’Arles were called RIP. The book is complete with accounts from former protagonists of those auspicious years, particularly Bertrand Eveno, Christian Caujolle, Anne Clergue, Marie-José Justamond, Jean-Claude Gautrand, Thierry Girard, Bernard Gille, Bruno Heitz, Marc Heller, Claude Hudelot, Jean-Marc Lacabe, Guy Le Querrec, Gilles Mora, Bernard Plossu and Fanny Sudre.
