In Arles, it’s called the off of the off: wild collages which provide an opportunity for young people to show what they can do. Often, it is in the last glows of the moon or the first rays of morning sun that these young photographers can be seen, bucket of sticky glue and rackets in hand. This year, the prize goes to the couple Isabelle and Alexis, complementary photographers who posted about 20 medium format photographs of their joint work. Blossom evokes the dreamlike journey, and staged smoke color in places that stir them, throughout their travels around the world. “We read in the smoke as we guess imaginary shapes in the clouds,” they say. So these images have embellished the frontages of Arles this year, offering, thanks to some of them, a fellow blue to the yellow of their walls. A love story, you would say.
