In 2022, after 25 years as a self-portrait photographer and artists’ model, AnnMarie Tornabene wrote a short autobiography sharing how and why she had chosen this specific artistic route. The book is complete with raw images of her body as it transformed within those years as well as prose that she had written and selected exhibited and published works from her portfolio.
She made the decision to share her story after she began to re-gain some weight due to COVID, menopause and other physical problems and having old thoughts of her appearance come back into her mind. Enduring mental and physical abuse most of her life by her mother as well as others, AnnMarie uses the camera as well as her job as an artists’ model to express herself – to show her body as beautiful, to deal with other aspects of her life and even to escape. In My Body Collective, she creates a timeline and recounts only some of the moments that she experienced but to also illustrate how her art has helped her survive.
The book is at last published and at this moment, you can purchase a copy of My Body Collective exclusively through her website. The book is in both English and French.
