All at the beach

Preview

“The paradigm of seaside imaginary, the beach is an infinitely inspiring playground for photographers from all over the world. It unveils a theater of curiosities and inspires by its wealth of functions.Public and egalitarian space, the beach is the curious receptacle of a leisure society in need of evasion’ ALL AT THE BEACH ‘reveals the stakes beyond the simple pleasure of swimming, artists question the architecture of these spaces, observe the sociology , to instill the photographic approach with a more sensitive, poetic approach.

Olivier Monge / MYOP reveals an ambitious and heteroclite curating presenting a wide selection of photographic languages. This exhibition offers  the works of great photographers as essential as Martin Parr, Claude Nori, Nino Migliori or Bernard Plossu. Very current photographers like Bertrand Stofleh, Cyril Weiner or Patrick Tourneboeuf, coming from  architecture and landscape photography, bring us a reflection on the notion of representation of the territory. Staging is also honored with Pierre Emmanuel Daumas’ very sharp paintings putting families at home “as at the beach” or the self-portrait of Agnès Jouhandeaux in the fallen Venus, a critic of a society focused on beauty. Alain Keler’s black and white photo essays, Oan Kim’s contemplative frescoes and Jean François Maccario’s bath towel collection complete the richness and diversity of the proposals.

The beach is highlighted by a blue camaïeu scenography imagined by Roxane Daumas revealing the space of sand between land and sea as a prolific muse.

The title “All At The Beach” / “Tous à la Plage” is obviously a nod to the eponymous title of the exhibition on the history of seaside architecture that took place at the City of Architecture and Heritage in 2016. It is, in a way and more modestly, its purely photographic pendant. ”
