These frowning portraits of important people from the fashion world, photographed by Alexandra Golovanoff, were sold by the Galerie Jérôme de Noirmont the 2nd of a March 2012. This sum will go entirely to the Hôpital Necker – Enfants Malades (Necker Hospital for Sick Children, Paris) and the restoration of their Keith Haring fresco on sick children. Here’s what Alexandra had to say about her series:
“I began this photo series last March. I thought about it a long time before I really got down to it. Then I found myself carried away by the atmosphere at a party one night and started shooting.
I wanted to show another face of fashion. Between humor, self-derision and letting loose, these modern vanities are full of the humanity of a population normally concerned by (not to say obsessed with) image, beauty and perfection.
I love this discrepancy and I deeply appreciated these furtive moments spent with each of them. Some were worried, others dying of laughter. A few were particularly gifted and it was difficult to choose only a few of their expressions.
And deep down what pleased me the most was that no one refused.
It’s a portrait gallery, personal and subjective, of people I love and admire.”
