After being exhibited at the Saorge Monastery and the cloister of the Fréjus Cathedral in 2014, the Michel Eisenlohr exhibition Te lucis antis terminum will be on display from April 24th to June 30th, 2015, in another landmark exhibition of the region’s architectural heritage, overseen by the National Center of Monuments, the Thoronet Abbey.
In Spring 2014, Eisenlohr took several trips to the Saorge Monastery in the Alpes-Maritimes to shoot a series of photographs of this 17th-century Franciscan monument that overlooks the Roya Valley near the Mercantour National Park. Twenty-four of these photographs will be on display in the monks’ dormitory at the Thoronet Abbey.
The photographs reflect the sober beauty and spirit that can still he glimpsed today. A catalogue gathering many of the photos, accompanied by haikus written by Chantal Robillard, was published by Images du Sud and is available in the bookstore of the CMN.
