The Magnum Foundation, named after and organized by the famous photo-reporters agency, proposes a conversation with London photographer Daniel Castro Garcia. The photographer will be given the opportunity to present his Foreigner project, funded in part by the $ 35,000 W. Eugene Smith Humanist Award received this year.
With this series, Daniel Castro Garcia seeks to document the experience of migrants from the Middle East and North Africa arriving on European soil.
Daniel Castro Garcia lives in London. He studied South American and Spanish literature at University College London before focusing choosing photography and audiovisual industry. While studying, Daniel Castro Garcia started various personal projects as a street photographer. In December 2015, he received the MACK Books prize for the first photographic book for his series Foreigner: migration into Europe 2015-2016. The photographer also received the British Journal of Photography Award in 2017 before being a grantee of the Magnum Foundation fund the same year.
