Martin Parr was the special guest of the 7th Fotobookfestival with several events. Firstly three large exhibition rooms presented all the books made by and about Martin Parr. 146 books and zines which the visitors could handle – appart from few rare works. This amazing ensemble was presented there for the first time.
In the main hall dedicated to the artist lectures was hang a huge exhibition featuring the whole book « Common Sense » published by Dewi Lewis with Martin Parr in 1999. This is one of his most famous photo series and the book has the particularity it does not contain one line of text but only full page color images. The perfect book to be turned in a exhibition.
On Saturday June 6th, some international photographers and experts with whom Martin Parr collaborated in the past were invited to share their experiences in front of a large audience: Thomas Weski, John Gossage (« America, 2006. Photographs by Obvious & Ordinary – AKA Martin Parr and John Gossage »), Gerry Badger (« The Photobook: A History » Volumes 1, 2, 3, Phaidon) and Thijs groot Wassink/ WassinkLundgren (« The Chinese Photobook », Aperture, 2015)
