We received four lovely letters at the end of the year. First, a word from Ralph Gibson:
« I just finished this morning’s L’Oeil de la Photographie and once again I was amazed by the superb quality of the site. I am so impressed by what you have created. The content fits the form, the web, perfectly and your editorial tone is always clear and unbiased. You are keeping us all so well informed and up to date. »
Then a letter from one of our readers, Barbara Polla, on her blog:
« Since December 2013, I have visited L’Oeil de la Photographie every day. I have often filed your articles away. And I have always admired them. It is a wonderful way to educate oneself in photography, to see and to read, and a wonderful tool to to approach photography altogether. It is a work of everyday activism, because we love it and we believe in it. there is an enormous effort put into the selection, presentation and editing that is not gratuitous —but is available for free, thanks to a certain number of patrons, including Maja Hoffmann (LUMA Foundation), Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Philippe Gassmann (Picto) and W.M. Hunt. So I save your articles. You can also become a friend, don’t be shy! Thank you, L’Oeil, for illuminating the way I see the world. »
And another from our reader Laurent Nicourt :
« Hello L’Oeil de la Photographie! I’ve already made a contribution to L’Oeil, but since:
-It’s Christmas;
-I live photography, think photography and dream photography;
-You are the best publication on the subject
-And you join me at my table every morning »
and finally a financial donation of 1 euro, with the message: « I can’t give more, but I still care! »
But, truly, the greatest joy is everyday life at L’Oeil de la Photographie. Our collaborators are just as enthusiastic as ever, our sponsorships and partnerships are taking shape, our audience is growing and hails from over 165 countries, our calendar covers more and more events, and our portfolios, submitted by 50 to 100 readers every week, hold a store of surprises. We’ll soon be undertaking a new version of the site, which will take a few weeks and which we’ll discuss in the coming months.
Happy new year and thank you all !
Jean-Jacques Naudet.
