Following a board meeting, Jean-Noël Jeanneney, president of the Rencontres de la Photographie, named Sam Stourdzé as the new director of the Rencontres. At the end of this year’s festival, Stourdzé will take over from François Hébel, who decided to step down.
It seems as though the board’s decision was far from unanimous, with supporters for Julien Frydman and Christine Ollier, but Jean-Noël Jeanneney had the final word.
Stourdzé, currently in New York, shared with us his feelings about the announcement:
“Following in the footsteps of François Hébel will be a great challenge. The festival saw a renaissance under his leadership these past ten years, and it will be my responsibility to continue that development.”
