In Haiti there are over one million orphans. After the earthquake in 2010 thousands of these children were left homeless or were sent to orphanages because their parents could not provide for them. Eighteen months after the earthquake I photographed in three orphanages in both the devastated city of Port-Au-Prince and in the untouched village of Williamson. of the more than 100 children that I photographed the overwhelming majority exhibited the resiliency that has been the hallmark of the Haitian people since declaring independence from France in 1804.
