Les lauréats des 36 catégories ont été annoncés par la chef, auteure et présentatrice de télévision Nadiya Hussain MBE, lors d’une cérémonie de remise des prix au BAFTA, à Londres, le mardi 16 mai 2023. L’annonce a également été diffusée sur la chaîne YouTube du concours et a été suivie par un public du monde entier.
Le jury mondial de cette année, chargé d’évaluer les milliers de candidatures provenant de plus de 65 pays à travers le monde, était présidé par le photographe culinaire David Loftus : Fiona Shields, responsable de la photographie, Guardian News & Media, le chef Ian Kittichai, restaurateur, auteur et animateur de télévision, Ella Ravilious, conservatrice au musée V&A, Nik Sharma, auteur de livres de cuisine, photographe, chroniqueur et Rein Skullerud, photographe principal, rédacteur en chef de photos au Programme alimentaire mondial des Nations unies.
L’exposition des finalistes de 2023 sera présentée pour la première fois à la Royal Photographic Society, à Bristol. L’exposition se tiendra du samedi 20 mai au dimanche 11 juin et s’inscrit dans le cadre de l’événement « World Photography in Focus » de Bristol, au cours duquel un certain nombre de concours internationaux de photographie de premier plan, notamment Wildlife Photographer of the Year et Travel Photographer of the Year, seront exposés dans la ville.
