La Non-Maison : Nicolas Comment : Invisibility

Preview

Until June 25, La Non-Maison, a place for art and essays in Aix en Provence, is exhibiting Nicolas Comment.
The exhibition entitled Invisibilité is presented in this way by the curator, Michèle Cohen.

It was important for me to expose this photographic investigation of Nicolas Comment. It paves the way for a cycle of exhibitions and encounters that I will organize later around figures forgotten in the history of art because they were made invisible, either because they were women, or because they did not belong to what is called the Center of the World, either because they themselves burned or destroyed their works. This exhibition is an ode to the heavenly tramps, to the periphery, to delicacy and discretion. Nouveau is a photographic series produced around the mysterious and mythical figure of the poet Germain Nouveau on the occasion of the centenary of his disappearance (1920-2020). In his images, Nicolas Comment evokes the trajectory of the poet in the south of France: Pourrières, Saint-Maximin-La Sainte-Baume, Aix-en-Provence (etc.)

Nouveau is also a CD-book produced in the form of a double vinyl disc of 10 musical adaptations of poems by Germain Nouveau, accompanied by a large-format 32-page booklet containing 35 photographs by Nicolas Comment, and a text by Yannick Haenel. (2017 Medici Prize).
