Die Mauer est une jeune galerie qui a ouvert ses portes en 2012. Elle représente essentiellement de jeunes artistes italiens de Toscane. La galerie participe pour la seconde année à la Foire de Milan, elle y présente pour cette nouvelle édition le travail photographique de Maurizio Sapia.
Maurizio Sapia was born in Sanremo in 1966, at the age of 21 he moved to Milan to follow the couses at the European Institut of Design. He began working with MDA studio first as assistant and then as photographer specializing in still life. He is one of the founders of the H2 O Studio and produces advertisement and catalogues for several companies. As commercial photographer he also works for various fashion magazines.
In recent years has started a personal research using photography and the still life’s style, usually adopted in his job, to talk, with his ironic and direct point of view, about deep contemporary anxieties, trying to stimulate thoughts on matters involving the subversion of nature’s rules, or, as in the series “Carne da Macello” (i.e. “Cannon Fodder”), on the absurdity of war.
Some of his works have been shown in important group exhibitions in Italy and in the rest of Europe, and a great solo exhibition has been held at the ClicArt gallery, in Milan in 2005, edited by Enrica Viganò, from which a catalogue has been published in addition to the last MIA fair ediction. Many of his works are part of important private collections.
In addiction to his activity as commercial photographer, he is currently working on a new project, in collaboration with DIE MAUER gallery, called REFLECTIONS.
