The Hulett Collection : Kit Young : Translucence

Preview

The Hulett Collection presents Translucence, an online exhibition of newly created works by Kit Young. The images were curated from work spanning the past five years during time spent abroad, for the most part, exploring cities and locations within cities for the very first time. Whether it’s boarding a train in New York, walking under the midday sun in Italy or enjoying a stroll along the Seine in Paris, these images speak to the “half-seen” everyday moments preserved in time by Kit’s discerning eye.

Kit Young was born in 1984. He set out on his photographic journey in 2009 when he moved to France where he joined a group of Paris-based photographers led by Gérard Moulin. It was during this period that Kit began to explore the infinite possibilities of darkroom printing and the juxtaposition of seemingly unrelated moments in time to create visual patterns as part of series-based work.

“I like to approach new urban locations, camera in hand.
I walk alone, from dawn to dusk, searching for nuances,
rhythms and textures, waiting for that gut feeling—
The one that makes me lift the viewfinder to my eye
And trip the shutter.” ~ Kit Young
