Steve Hiett –New York

Preview

He wanted to be a painter, he has been a musician, he is a photographer.

For years, Steve Hiett has been taking pictures of New York City from his window. When les éditions be-pôles gave him carte blanche, he chose to deliver this singular yet intimist look offering a touching dialogue between the city and his own emotions.

« This should maybe be called view from New York.
Looking over the West Side Highway, the Hudson River and, in the distance, New Jersey.
Over 20 years you can see the change.
From a stretch of road by a large desolate waterfront, to a multiple lane highway alongside a modern waterside park.
From funky to functional.»

Art director and advertising executive, Steve Hiett is today exclusively devoted to his career as a fashion photographer. He has worked for the biggest fashion magazines : Vogue, L’Officiel, Elle, The Times Magazine, Marie-Claire, The Observer Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Visionnaire….

The book, New York by Steve Hiett, was published in march last year and is part of the collection of city portraits by “les éditions be-pôles” based on the philosophy : One photographer, one city. A unique vision of each city through the eyes of an artist.
