Founded in Munich on April 1, 1974, by Lothar Schirmer and Erik Mosel, the publishing house Schirmer/Mosel is today run by Lothar Schirmer with the help of a team of twelve people. For the past 37 years, Schirmer/Mosel has published the greatest photographers of the 19th and 20th centuries, including: Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Anton Corbijn, Gisèle Freund, Nick Knight, Annie Leibovitz, Herbert List, Man Ray, Robert Mapplethorpe, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, László Moholy-Nagy, Helmut Newton, Candida Höfer, Herb Ritts, Thomas Ruff, August Sander, Cindy Sherman, Thomas Struth, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol and Weegee. This long list continues to expand and diversify.
