Moscow: Birds

Preview

Glaz gallery presents its traditional summer group show. This year the motif of the exhibition is birds. Artist always found birds fascinating. Because of their grace, because of their independence and, of course, because of their ability to fly. Birds have always been used as symbols for dreams, desires; sometimes even a human soul was shown as a bird.
Gallerists have gathered photos of the birds made during last 70 years: from Dmitry Baltermants to contemporary artists represented by Glaz gallery. Flying and resting on the trees, color or black and white, real or imaginary. Graphic flocks of ducks by Dmitry Baltermants and Tim Parchikov, lyrical cranes by Alexander Abaza, unhurried geese by Sergey Burasovsky and Sonya Tatarinova, disturbing seagulls by Harry Gruyaert, picturesque pigeon by Rebecca Norris Webb… And even a penguin by Ivan Mikhailov, even though it’s not a real one.
