Mois de la Photo 2014 : Six personnalités en quête d’intime à la galerie Françoise Paviot

Preview

Six photographers selected by six prominent figures from the photo world are taking part in a search for intimacy—one of the theme’s of this year’s European Month of Photography—at the invitation of gallerist Françoise Paviot.

The journey begins with a ghostly apparition in a white dress. Bogdan Konopka, selected by Michelle Debat, found this dress shortly after the sudden death of his daughter. He places the dress on a cracked walls, in an armoire, in nature, or blurry, hanging from tombstones in a graveyard, before burning it in one final, cathartic image. The work is infinitely moving, theatrical and delicate, an invitation to the imagination.

The young Turkish photographer Irem Sozem presents a constellation of thoughts and feelings rebuilt around a dreamy, sensual self-portrait. Nathalie Gallon, who selected the work, tells us that it takes the form of a “diary of emotions.” Emotions that materialize in bubbles floating among trees, a lifeless body on a forest road, a silhouette bathed in a sea or wide horizons and a landscape of roofs in the mist: the elements of her interior, dreamlike, elegant and unique world.
