On October 13th, the auction house Millon will put up for auction about sixty emblematic prints from Michel Sola’s collection. Known as “The eye of Paris Match”, Michel Sola (1939-2009) was the mainstay of the magazine for thirty-five years, alongside Roger Théron. Director of the photo department from 1973 to 1985, then editor-in-chief of the magazine until 1999, Michel Sola worked with the greatest photojournalists of the twentieth century.
A friend of Sebastiao Salgado, David Douglas Duncan Marc Riboud, Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Raymond Depardon, Benoît Gysembergh, but also Henri Cartier-Bresson and even Robert Doisneau, Michel Sola collected, throughout his life, these poignant images, all given and signed by the great names of photojournalism over the years.
