Production of the duo Iconographia, founded by Clémence in photography and Armâne in artistic direction, this series of photographs shows images marked by strong visual codes that refer to a common culture, while opening a dialogue on the question of representations , that especially of women.
Trained art historians, they draw inspiration from it to give their photographic work a power that combines aesthetics and feminist engagement. By basing their creations on an important base of historical and iconographic research, they infuse their photographs with a pictorial grain that calls out and questions, while disrupting classical imagery. Reinterpretations of myths (Salome, Medusa, Persephone and Demeter), tributes to authors, to painters and to a heritage, rewritings of male works with a feminist prism, are all themes dear to Iconographia which make up this series of “photographic paintings”.
