Guillem Vidal – Forgetting the game

Preview

The photos in this series show abandoned play grounds, they are the metaphor of the capacities  of our society to relegates a phase of  the development of individuals, childhood. In the adult world values and interests are different, mischief only exists as a memory. Now, these playing grounds, for children or for adults, are integrated in the nature which invades them in the slow process of their transformation into ruins.

The series raises two levels of reading, one a social level, critical of the place games occupies within our consumer society, where it is considered an industry or a show. And another intimate and personal, a look at our childhood where we find the ruins of paradise from which we were expelled. A space and a time, where the game,  creativity and pleasure were possible, there remains only traces of this in these photographs.
