Enzo Crispino – Eight hours

This project that I present entitled “Eight hours” is a work that takes its cue from two considerations, the relocation abroad and the continuous search for automation of the production phases in industry, which has had important effects on the workers employed, eliminating or reducing their role. Industry 4.0 leads to erase forever the professional figure of the worker and his ability to work with “his hands” on machine tools and tools, perhaps from industrial archaeology as it is defined today, but, will inevitably lose the qualified tradition of metalworking “Handicraft”. The photos I present have been taken in the metalworking factory where I have been working for 21 years, as a turning/milling machine, imagining it no longer operational but as an exhibition space, its last function of utility.
