Travel leads one elsewhere. Not necessarily far away, but, inevitably, out of our daily lives. Our relationship to time changes, drastically or imperceptibly, adapting, accelerating and slowing down. In 2002, when I left Paris for India, I was fully aware of the reality that I wanted to depict in my work. I was looking for the process that would allow me to best represent this emotion without betraying my intention. Polaroid emerged as the answer to my questions, in particular, its transfer to watercolor paper. This allows me to put together a travelogue in almost real time, all the while blurring different strains of time together. My photos become altered images, sometimes slightly deteriorated as if coming out of the past, an immediate past marked with a timeless dimensions. I have always returned from the territories I have crossed with the same desire to question the place of man in this complex geography which interweaves the ideas of limits and infinity.
