For the group show "Traits Singuliers", Benoît Grimalt, photographer and filmmaker, will present two series in color. The first is 16 photos que je n’ai pas prises, where the artist humorously comments on sixteen photographs taken by others. For the second series, the artist remembers the final image taken on three rolls of film. Before he develops them, he attempts to mentally “reveal” the pattern in three drawings. The final print shows the fragility of the captured moment in relation to the photographer’s memory (and vice versa, the fragility of the memory in relationship to the photographic evidence). This is drawing as a test of technique.
