Photo Phnom Penh 2015 : Emeric Lhuisset

Preview

To cover a conflict, it is not necessary to be ‘‘ a photojournalist’’ and collect snapshots of action. Visiting  Maidan square, where protesters gathered in Kiev, Emeric Lhuisset wanted to both witness and try to understand  the motivation of the protestors. He who had previously worked in Syria, Iran or Afghanistan questions the representation of conflict and the constitution of the memories by the media. In Kiev, Émeric Lhuisset photographed in the same place 100 people, and asked them to answer a short questionnaire: What is your dream? What do you think the future will look like? A simple device, the same background, the return of the  blue and yellow national colors, models stand in front of the photographer and look at him. We are not tied to the drama of the moment and we share a portrait album that is History in it’s moment.
