Art is an Epidemic is an expository portrait series of Cuban artists by photographer Eddie Brakha. The Cuban artist, to an outsider, can be very enigmatic, but this series attempts to breakdown these barriers to give a personal identity to the human portrayed. This series creates a discourse beyond just me and them, but them and the world. My approach to these artists and their work as a whole was not merely to look at them and capture their existence or place of work, but rather to understand how they see, how they feel, and why they create. These portraits start with their works and end with their humanity. When you look at the portraits of these artists, you create a dialogue with their vision and in turn have a better understanding of their dreams and reality.
